Falcon 44: Job

My friend Piet Bos has built this beautifull sailing boat in 2,5 years!
Its design is from Cees v.d. Stadt from Sattelite Design.
Type of the boat: Falcon 44, with a retractable keel.
He is now on a world wide sailing trip with his wife Tine.
At the moment on the hard in Portimao, Portugal.
He has an ambitieus sailing plan: Madeira, Canary Islands, Cabo Verde, Brasil, Argentina,
Antartica, Chili, French Polynesie, Hawai to Alaska!
I hope to join him on this trip for some time in the next winter.
These photo's are from her try-outs.
Afterwards he made a wonderfull doghouse on the boat.

The boatshow in Dusseldorf, Germany

With Roy, the harbourmaster, we went to the boatshow in Dusseldorf.
The Landrover drove very well.
We left Amsterdam at 9.00 am, visited the boatshow and arrived back at 18.00 pm.
Here an impression of the hall with the sailing boats.

Winter on the boat

It is a real winter in Holland. During the week I am living on my boat.
My petroleum stove and my eskimo sleeping bag are keeping me warm.
The skating fever was everywhere in Holland and for twelve days we have been skating on wonderfull flat ice. It had been twelve years ago since we had this beautifull ice to skate on.
Many people had to learn to skate after such a long time.
Work on my boat is slowed down because of this frost.

One more photo of the "FanFan"

Ostar 2009

In may 2009 the solo sailing race for little ships will start from Plymouth, England, to Newport, USA.
At the moment there are already 29 entries of which are 7 dutch sailors!!
One of the participants is Uwe Rottgering, a german solo sailor, with a boat very much like mine.
The name is FanFan and the type is a Greyhound! Also a Dick Zaal design.
The first owner Hans van Hest has sailed the Twostar in the eighties with this boat.
Uwe has made a circumnavigation and written a book about this trip.

See his website: http://www.seefieber.de
Now after a very thorough refit he plans to sail the Ostar 2009.
He was so kind to send me some photo's which I present here.
