Sailing to England again

Rob, the captain
Bart

Dien
Carl
Neeltje S
On friday 24th of july we left Amsterdam on the sailing yacht "Neeltje S" with destination Schotland. The owner Rob with crew of Dien, Bart and myself. All four are boat owners with a lot of experience. When we left there was a lot of rain: see photo of Rob in the rain.
After a day and a night of rough sailing we received a bad weatherforecast and decided to go to Lowestoft and wait for better weather.
The next morning on sunday we left and ended on monday in Newcastle on Tyne.

Horrible english breakfast
After a day's visit of Newcastle we planned to go to Holy Island.
That is near the border of England with Schotland.
Alas we had the Island in sight when again a bad weatherforecast arrived. Force 9 !
So we went to the village Amble which was really nice.

The lobsters we ate, good idea of Dien!
The Coble: local fishing boat with beautifull curves
Description of the Coble
On the way back we had a wonderfull sail along the coast of East England.
But the wind turned to the south east and we had to motor 24 hours to reach IJmuiden on saturday 1th of august. We had sailed nearly 800 miles in 8,5 days!!
