Sailing trip with a Alden Schooner

Saturday I made a sailing trip from Den Helder to Amsterdam over the sea.
The trip from Den Helder to IJmuiden (40 miles) took us only 4 hours!!
It is a lovely wooden schooner of approximately 16 meter.
Designed by John G. Alden and built in 1985.
It took the first owner 12 years to built and he did a marvellous job.
Roy, the owner, is the harbourmaster of the marina where my boat is on the hard.

Here are a few pictures.

Gezocht: plexiglas koepel

In een van de plexiglas koepels op mijn boot zit een scheur.

Wie weet een leverancier van deze koepels??

Who knows a distributor of thes plexiglass domes?

My friend Silvio from Suisse

For a few days Silvio visited me in Amsterdam on my boat.
He sails a big Lerouge catamaran with his wife Marinette.
At the moment his boat is in Panama and he invited me to join him for some time in the Pacific!

Visit from my Brazilian friend: Marcelo Brochini

If you ever go to Salvador de Bahia in North Brasil, this is the man who can help you with everything concerning your boat.
He was the one who organized a new mast for my catamaran and did many repairs.
He came to visit me on my new boat in Amsterdam and stayed with me for a few days.
I showed him all the highlights of Amsterdam which he predered to Paris.
He was particularly enthousiastic about the beauty of the dutch women.

Special tiller and doghouse of the Greyhound

My new boat has a vertical tiller!!
On this photo you can see the nice doghouse of the Greyhound.

Neeltje S

Sorry, the name of the Koopmans 42 is Neeltje S.

Here's a photo:

Trip around North Holland

Last weekend I was invited to join Rob on his beautifull sailing yacht "Keetje S" for a trip in two days around the northern part of Holland.
The boat is a steel sturdy Koopmans 42 with a weight of 16 ton!!
On friday late in the afternoon we motered in the rain from Amsterdam to Ijmuiden.
Here we stayed the night in the fishing harbour because the marina in Ijmuiden was full with the Hiswa boatshow.
Saturday morning we left at the early hour 6.30 with a force 7 right in the back to Den Helder. What a save boat this is on a rough sea. Very kindly on the big waves while she is a longkeeler.
At 13.00 we were already at Den Oever and at 16.30 in the "Buishaven" at Enkhuizen.
A very fast ride.
The next day on sunday we had a force 6 right on the nose with a lot of rain.
Still she was ploughing merrily through the waves and we were in the harbour in Amsterdam at "happy hour" time.
All in all a wonderfull weekend on a very comfortable and save sailing boat.
